Good Morning Magandang Buhay. Literally its meaning is “Beautiful Life”, Actually Magandang Buhay is a morning talk show for the enjoyment of Philippine People. On April 18, 2016, it premiered for the 1st time replacing Kris TV. Kris TV is also a morning talk show which was working in the market from 2011 and got the attention of Philippine audience greatly and became the competitor of Magandang Buhay. It broadcasted on ABS-CBN for four years but when the problem of network shutdown of terrestrial assets occurred. It left and started working with new channels.
Currently it is broadcast on three channels named as Kapamilya Channel, A2Z and TV5. The schedule of broadcast on these channels is that Magandang Buhay broadcasts very first on every weekend at 9.00am according to PST on the main channel Kapamilya. At the same time, it also broadcast on second channel A2Z, which is also a free to air channel. On the very next day, it also broadcast on the third free to air channel .TV5 at 7.00am according to PST through blocktime arrangements.
Magandang Buhay served by a number of main hosts, which are actually the main pillars of Magandang Buhay success. These are named as Melai Cantiveros, Jolina Magdangal Escueta and also Karla Estrada. Karla Estrada worked at Magandang Buhay till 2022 and replaced by Regine Velasquez-Alcasid. Till 2023, this show is the longest running morning show of ABS-CBN and surpassing the oldest morning show named as Teysi ng Tahanan.
History of Magandang Buhay:
The main reason to keep the name of this morning show Magandang Buhay is actually the inspiration from the drama series “Dream Dad”.
In starting, the Magandang Buhay debuted on ABS-CBN from Monday to Friday at 7:30am in 2016. While crossing and replacing the Kris TV, it started to debut on 8.00 am slots according to PST on June 21, 2016.
Effect of Covid on Magandang Buhay Live Show in 2020:
In 2020, due to COVID-19 in the country on March 10, the live show audience admission became suspended with all other programs and talk shows in ABS-CBN. Because ABS-CBN was following the declaration given by the state of public health emergency of the Philippines.
On March 26, Magandang Buhay started to broadcast on zoom because COVID-19 was enhanced and spread quickly all over the world and Live shows suspended.
On May 5, 2020, National Telecommunications Commission NTC and Solicitor General Jose Calida ordered ABS-CBN Network to cease its free to air broadcast operations and due to this reason Magandang Buhay got suspended to broadcast.
Nearly after one month on June 15, when Kapamilya Channel launched, this show resumed its live broadcasting by this channel in live studio. By following A2Z, on October 19, 2020, the show time was changed and set on the 10.30 slot according to PST. On October 26, again the time slot of the show changed to 11.00am PST and its duration also reduced to 60 minutes. After 8 months later, the show time reverted to 9.00 PST and went on.
Karla Estrada made a commitment with Tingog Party List to participate and left the Magandang Buhay temporarily to fulfil her commitment. After Karla, Regine and Judi Ann Santos served in this morning show as guest co-host.After 6 years, On July 22, 2022, when Magandang Buhay aired a tapped episode, Karla returned back to the show permanently to participate. On August 8, 2022, after six years working as co-host, Velasquez officially became a permanent host in the show. That time was celebrated with a six years anniversary with a new theme song as well.
TV5 Simulcast Announcement:
On November 23, 2022, there was a trade event that occurred in the Philippines and in that event, it was announced that in 2023 Magandang Buhay will be performing as a Programmer for TV5.
By replacing the Chika Besh morning talk show, Magandang Buhay was first premiered on February 6, 2023 at 9.00am on TV5 channel. Magandang Buhay worked as pre-programming a morning newscast named Frontline sa Umaga, It is also a newscast broadcast by TV5. Later on, Frontline sa Umaga was replaced by a Gud Morning Kapatid Show. It is the latest production of BS-CBN which is simulcast with TV5.
On June 19, 2023, the timeslot of Magandang Buhay was changed to 7.00am PST. and now a days TV5 replay the old episodes of Magandang Buhay to give away the newest shows newscast “Gud Morning Kapatid”to get the popularity oF TV5.
